03 -2016 The Marcadier hill-climb season has started auspiciously, with Gilles Coursoux winning the 'historic' section of the race at Lugny, near Macon ( Saone et Loire). This is the first time this event has been run.

Organised by ASA 71, it took place over the Easter weekend and attracted about a hundred entrants beginning their 2016 season. Everyone agreed it was a successful event, despite a wet start to the weekend.

Starting his eighth season with his faithful ex-Coupe de l'Avenir Simca-engined barquette, Gilles proceeded to progressively improve his times, the heavy rain giving way to dry conditions. He establshed a good margin over his closest rivals ( Bonnot in a 1600cc Formula Renault and Santarelli in a Tiga Proto), finishing the event in 23rd place overall amongst the 'moderns': not bad for a 40-year old car with a modest 1300cc engine!

We look forward to seeing on-form Gilles, and indeed also Pascal Ferretti in his 1600cc barquette, at Bagnols Sabran, the first round of the National Championship.
