06-2016 The weekend of 18/19 June saw the Marchampt-Beaujolais Villages hillclimb, situated north of Lyon and organised by the ASA Beaujolais presided over by Daniel Demare.

The 3.9 km course starts in the heart of the village, with some ultra-fast sections where cars can reach 200kph, followed by a sharp braking area before the finish. Weather conditions were generally good, although sporadic showers made the course very tricky in parts, especially for the majority who elected for slick tyres.

Spectators were treated to 40 entries in the Historic division, although sadly Fernand Santarelli's Tiga, Michel Torcat's Porsche and Christial Riehl's BMW all failed to make the start due to mechanical problems.

Only one Marcadier was entered: the excellent Pascal Ferretti driving his father Jean's Lancia-engined barquette. He led throughout the day until the very last climb where he missed a gear. He finished in third place.

Charles Veillard's very powerful BMW 320 silhouette took the honours with Jean Marc Debeaune's single-seater Van Diemen coming second. The next event is the Vuillafans hillclimb, which takes place on the 2nd- 3th July.
